Excitement building & Kenna's Room Inspiration

Well, it’s official. Our paperwork is in to the underwriters and we will soon be first-time homebuyers =) So exciting. My Pinterest boards have been building up but now that our big move is getting closer, I feel like I need to start compiling some crafts that I have had my eye on for awhile.

I’ve decided to start on Kenna’s room first so she’ll be settled in. The current wall color in her soon-to-be room is a striped theme of teal, lime green and white! Perfect for a preteen but I have a while before that, thank goodness. Here’s my inspiration for her room that I have shamelessly copied drawn inspiration from one of my fave blogs of all time, Young House Love. Hopefully the old adage of “imitation is the sincerest form of flattery” is true.

Kennas room

I have never been a huge pink person but I love the subtle pink walls with the pops of green and blue, which are some of my favorite colors. Kenna’s nursery is in blues and greens now but I want to highlight her diva-ness because she is ALL girl, lol. Loves her necklaces (“neck-necks”) and rings!

Here are her colors that I started with and made my own crib bumpers and yo-yo mobile when we first found out we were expecting.

And here’s the “amateur” mood board I’ve created! Same green theme pulled over but with a different shade of teal.

We are still using her crib and dresser/changing table. We already own the Ikea Gislev rug and the mirror above the dresser that I want paint. So I just need to buy her paint, the Amy Butler fabric to make her curtains. And she has to have a gallery wall =)

Instead of buying a capiz chandelier like this one from Amazon, I’m going to make one! I also want to make one for the kitchen but in the natural color. Amazon’s capiz chandy is really not a bad price at $54 but I think it’ll be more fun to make one.

Here’s the mirror we have now in her bedroom that I’m planning on spray painting.

So tomorrow on my lunch break, I’ll be headed to get the wall paint and spray paint! I figure if I get a couple of things a week, when we close on the house, I’ll be ready! But first, what do y’all think? Any suggestions?

Throw pillows!

After ordering my duvet cover from West Elm last week (sqquuueeeal!), I’ve decided I really need to get into gear about dressing my “nekid” pillow forms I’ve had for 2+ years. I had originally bought the pillows to outfit and then put on my equally naked couch. Since then though, I bought some throw pillows from a garage sale that went with my living room décor perfectly! Sooo, now my plans are to use the pillows in our bedroom. Because the duvet cover is a tad more busier than I’m used to… see, look…awww, I’m in love.

I’ve decided to go somewhat simple with the throw pillows and plan on using some solid colored fabric. However, while I am using plain fabric, I want to have at least one fancy pillow, maybe like this…

I like these as well…

A pretty teal pillow would compliment so well =)

Pic from a fabulous etsy store called Chloe & Olive

Definitely could make some covers inspired by Crate and Barrel

But I do have some cable knit sweaters that are too small that I might be willing to recycle! Or I could hit up a consignment shop. I love Brassy Apple’s tutorial.

OR! I could do one of these awesome monogram pillows!!!!

This is actually a custom monogrammed doorstop from etsy store nextdoortoheaven but it has pillow quality =)

Ohhh, how I love thee, PB!

Anywho, I have so many wonderful ideas. I just NEED to get on the ball. On the plus side, my wonderful Mr. LCH finally managed to put up a few shelves in my craft shed this weekend so maybe I can get out there and snap some pics of the “mess” =) Until next time…

Ikea [insert melodramatic swoon here]

I absolutely have been begging for my hubs to take me to Ikea when we make our trip down south. I’ve never been and I’m like a moth attracted to the light. It’s a beacon in the sky. You get the picture, I’m sure =) I have browsed through their catalog multiple times dog-earing paged, highlighting what I definitely want while he looks on in a lackadaisical (don’t you just love that word. It’s a shame I don’t use it more) way. With regards to Mr. LCH, I ‘m going to share my Ikea Wants & Needs with the bloggie world who might appreciate it more.

First, I really want a duvet! I think it’s be awesome to switch out the cover at a whim and even make your own duvet cover like they did here and here.

We really really need one of these since ours broke =( But when we replace this, we want to go ahead and get a deeper sink. Those old ceramic sinks are so shallow.

AND NOW FOR THE BEST PART OF IKEA!

I love wooden kitchen play sets! I can’t wait to get Kenna one and get her all kinds of play fruit, food, pots and pans. In the catalog, Ikea says the stove top actually lights up (led lights) and the sink can hold water (we might not add water though, lol).

MULA Toy hammering block, multicolor Length: 9 1/2 " Width: 3 7/8 " Height: 5 1/2 " Length: 24 cm Width: 10 cm Height: 14 cm

For my woMAN cave, I need some more accessories for sure. It will forever be a work in progress, I’m afraid.

DOKUMENT Letter tray, orange Width: 11 ½ " Depth: 13 ¾ " Height: 9 ¾ " Width: 29 cm Depth: 35 cm Height: 25 cm

Note: Picture are linked to sources. I was not paid to brag about Ikea. I love them just because =)

Master bedroom mood board!

Made my first ever mood board a couple of weeks ago when I scored an awesome vintage shutter at an antique shop (picture to come). I made my mood board using Paint.net, an awesome free program! I've been wanting to decorate our master bedroom for awhile. I feel like I spend time and craftiness in every room of the house except our room soooo, I'm hoping to make the room prettier =)
