Wax Paper Roundup!

Remember doing this project in elementary school? Wax paper, bits of crayons, insta-gift for Mother’s Day or Valentine’s Day? Yeap, me too.

(source)

I’ve been seeing so many awesome projects out in Blogland and Pinterest with wax paper and have been blown away! There are DEFINITELY some I’ll be trying like this West Elm-inspired capiz chandelier (here and here)! Isn’t this beyond awesome! I have been looking at cool looking light fixtures for our kitchen but I think I really want to do one of these!

Really like the round look too! The one below uses ribbon and hot glue.

Look how full this one is! Beautiful!

You can print on and transfer with wax paper.

You can do more modern crayon projects than those from your kindergarten days Winking smile

Or try using wax paper as a stencil. How nifty is that! Cut, iron down, paint, peel off, simple as that.

(source)

Okay, this is another MUST to try!

(source)

And here’s some nifty household uses for wax paper! Had no idea that wax paper attracts dust bunnies so you can use some on your Swiffer!

14 Uses for Wax Paper

Well, I will definitely be back soon (hopefully) with updates on my faux-capiz chandy. I want to do a large rectangular one but have to wait for an Ikea trip so I might start on a circle one just to see how it turns out =)

Until next time.

PINspiration is striking!

I received my West Elm catalog in the mail last week.

CURRENT ISSUE: June 2012

(source)

Yeap, after pouring over the pages, I threw it away to avoid any excess spending. After I bought my duvet cover, I figured West Elm merchandise could be an addiction if I didn’t watch it. I’m sure Mr. LCH appreciates my generosity, lol.

I was stuck on the accessory pages this month! I guess it’s because I’m dreaming of open shelving and pretty arrangements of milk glass that I don’t have, lol.

Aren’t they beautimous? I can see some built-ins or a bit of open shelving in the dining room holding these jewels =) I’m a huge fan of Young House Love’s blog and I love what they’ve done with their home—so bright, airy, and cheerful!

Don’t all the vases and kick knacks look awesome? Not cluttered but like they belong there =)

Well, after seeing these tutorials floating around Blogland, I know that I need to improvise to make some awesome vases instead of doling out to West Elm (I still love y’all guys though! Team WE!).

re-use old clear vases. Awesome idea.

So, now I’m super browsing to see all the nifty vase shapes and colors I can come up with using the technique with paint, enamel, modpodge/food coloring, spray paint! The possibilities are endless!

I’m loving the Pinterest finds!

This came from Dwell Studio but would be nifty to recreate with a thrift store find!

Aren’t they ‘prettiful’ =)  I’m definitely going to start picking up glass pieces at the thrift stores. Normally I’ll just scan the aisles quickly but like I said, now there’s possibilities, people! Winking smile

Sewing Kick!

I have been on a sewing kick here lately. It started after I refashioned all my skirts and made my Kindle cover! My sewing kick has only manifested itself even more as I see all these awesome tutorials on Pinterest and the linky parties I’ve been participating in, so I'm going to share some of the awesomerific things people have been making! I’m so motivated to sew, lol!

Mrs. Winthrop didn’t sew anything in this refashion—just used a tee, painter’s tape, and fluorescent spray paint!

Cardigans made out of t-shirts? Yes, please!

Well, I’m off to go sew something spiffy! Wish me luck…luck that my 20-month old will actually let me do something, that is, lol…

It’s time to stop neglecting the outdoors!

The title is self-explanatory, isn’t it, lol? I’m always working inside, trying to improve things, making nifty little crafts and do not even think about the outside until I’m driving up the driveway shaking my head, lol. Now now, it’s not that bad, we’re not overgrown with weeds but I need to rake some leaves for sure. For the last three summers, I’ve had big plans of making flowers beds complete with mulch and flowers. Nope, no such luck. So without further ado, this summer I have the same expectations! I WILL work on the outside! For real. I promise Winking smile

We’re actually moving soon…well, hopefully by the end of the year, so I have been thinking hard about what color door I want! These are the important priorities, ya know!

They say vincas are resilient to bad gardeners as well as heat. Might have to check these bad babies out!

This old tool box is right up Mr. LCH’s alley! Wonder if anyone would notice if I put fake plants in…

Okay, I know, I know, enough with the picture overload. I was on a roll though, lol. It’s amazing how you collect all these ideas and feel like you have accomplished something…but you really haven’t.

Well, until next time =) I have a couple more sewing projects coming soon!
