More from my visit with Gern and Papa!

I love this ole window frame that my papa turned into a shadow box to hold more childhood memories! Some panes still have the glass and others don't which adds more rustic quality, in my humble opinion!

These flowers are my favorite too! My gern made them and hot glued them to tree limbs!

Needless to say, my granny is my inspiration =) Papa's real handy too with woodworking. The log cabin that I grew up in which was on the same lot (it got demolished by a hurricane) used to be a church. Near the road was an actual replica of an ark. It was huge in my mind but I do remember that it was probably the six of an office or two. Nevertheless, I remember papa had wood stacked up in there and old projects he had started on. I was sad to see when they had to tear it down. It was unsafe and eat up with termites. I'll have to round up a picture! Me and the Bug just had some memory lane time with gern but I was glad to spend some time with my lil sis too!And my hubby in all this mess of going through old decorations???

A day at Gern's!

I went to see my granny and papa Moore this weekend. Please keep my papa in your prayers. Granny, Lacey, and I went through all her cross stitch samplers and framed work she had left over from the shop and I got some good stuff for the house! I was excited. A lot of the stuff I remember from growing up and it was just reminiscient for me and the bug (that would be Lacey). I just feel at home when I visit and sometimes I just don't want to leave at all, lol. If I wasn't working I would want to be down there with her and papa for an extended stay but until then I have pictures =)
This is my gern's holiday tree!

Nearly all the ornaments are handmade!

I had to take a picture of my "pinwheels bouquet" I made for her and Lacey! The tree limbs are my favorite part. They're from my very own front yard =)

Turnin' into a fish!

I am so ready to go swimming again. We've been having so much fun swimming with my niece, Kelsea. And of course, I like splashing Travis. He's such an easy target!

It's been fun spending time with Justin and Lisa too. We really don't get a chance to just hangout together so I've been enjoying that too =)

Note: Princess protected because of excessive cuteness.

My new kitchen and decor!

I hate to paint. I really do. Ever since Travis and I thought painting our bedroom would be a cinch and fun...yeah, it's not. However, I did paint one wall in my kitchen to add some color and I think it turned out nicely. It was actually funner with me doing it in a few hours by myself (without Trav, that is). It definitely was a more peaceful experience.

I love the Prissy Plates too. I found those at Hobby Lobby and was tickled pink about how they turned out although I had one heck of a time getting that plate holder thingamajiggy on there.

I'm real proud of my valance though. I had made a real cute one that I accented with grosgrain ribbon but it was sage green as well and I needed something to break up all that green. It reminded me too much of split pea soup or something... And of course, my inspiration for the color scheme is from a set of fabric placemats me and Trav got as a wedding present and our area rug in the living room! (Side note: those are clean dishes in the sink =)

Missed birthdays...

Ohhh, the start of a new blog! I am uber excited. I'm even more excited to head down South tomorrow to see my Papa, gern, and my daddy! This month I missed my daddy and papa's birthday as well as Father's Day so I'm rippin' and rarin' to go. Although being in the car too long with Trav gets a tad bit tedious. He absolutely hate when I listen to my book on tape but I am listening to Summer on Blossom Street right now and it's good! That series and her Cedar Cove series are great! The librarian is coming out in me, lol.

My dear ole' sis and her "boyfern" Brian went today. She bypassed her exit on the turnpike and ended up 90 miles south, further down Florida than we've probably ever been! She finally made it to her intended destination though; she just had to take the scenic route.

My papa got a cake with an eagle on it. I heard he was so tickled. He told me it was too "purty" to eat so he ate around the center =) I'm sure he ate it shortly after. He has a sweet tooth when he has an appetite.
